The Condition of the Sinner and the Role of Baptism
“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.” – Jesus (Mark 16:16)

In sin – “all have sinned” Romans 3:23
Role of Baptism
For the remission (forgiveness) of sins - “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins” Acts 2:38
2. Condition of the Sinner
Conscience defiled – “their mind and conscience is defiled” Titus 1:15
Role of Baptism
Sprinkles hearts from an evil conscience – “draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water” Hebrews 10:22
3. Condition of the Sinner
Filthy – “we are all as an unclean thing” Isa. 64:6
Role of baptism
Washes – “arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord” Acts 22:16
4. Condition of the Sinner
Dead – “we were dead in sins” Eph. 2:5
Role of Baptism
Buries and raises to new life – “Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith” Col. 2:12
5. Condition of the Sinner
Child of Satan – “the children of the devil” 1 John 3:10
Role of Baptism
A new birth as a child of God –“be born of water and of the Spirit” John 3:5
6. Condition of the Sinner
Without Christ – “ye were without Christ” Eph. 2:12
Role of Baptism
Puts on Christ – “as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ” Gal. 3:27
7. Condition of the Sinner
Receives no mercy – “without mercy” Hebrews 10:28
Role of baptism
Means of receiving mercy – “according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost” Titus 3:5
8. Condition of the Sinner
Destined for vengeance – “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them” 2 Thes. 1:8
Role of Baptism
For salvation – “baptism doth now save us” 1 Peter 3:21
Conclusion
Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized. Acts 2:40-41
